Marie Göranzon and Krister Henriksson are two of Sweden’s greatest acting legends and have treated us to a string of outstanding performances over the past few decades, both individually and together. We have had the pleasure of seeing them perform together on several occasions, most recently in the Royal Dramatic Theatre’s production of “Miss Julie” in 2023.
In the spring of 2026, they finally reunited on stage in the brand-new play “Slutspelat – A Comical Process of Grief,” written and directed by Henrik Schyffert. The production has been embraced with open arms by both audiences and critics.
“Göranzon and Henriksson are true thoroughbreds” and “funny, bold, and quite cheeky,” writes Expressen, while Svenska Dagbladet notes, “Two different giants electrify the stage.” After 36 sold-out performances at the Scala Theater in Stockholm, they are now taking their hit show on a tour of Sweden! On September 3–5, Slutspelat comes to Rival in Stockholm!
Three of Sweden’s most influential cultural figures have joined forces in the unique theater project “Slutspelat – A Comic Process of Grief.” Marie Göranzon and Krister Henriksson are two of the most seasoned and veteran voices in Swedish performing arts. Their roots are deeply planted in the halls of the Royal Dramatic Theatre, yet their branches extend into film, TV, and the hearts of the people. In “Slutspelat – A Comical Work of Mourning,” the two friends meet on stage in a brand-new, personal play by Henrik Schyffert, which explores life, theater, and relationships. With humor and sincerity, the two friends dissect what their lives have actually been like, on and off the stage. When is the play really over?
“In this performance, we talk about things and events we’ve never addressed before; there’s something very liberating about that,” says Marie Göranzon.
In the performance, we get to join Marie and Krister as they wait in a dressing room to promote the play “Slutspelat” on a popular TV show. The audience gets to eavesdrop on their conversation and witness the personal interaction between the two actors. In the dressing room, they are also joined by the young production assistant Rasmus, played by Nonni Ardal, acclaimed for his spot-on presence. The production assistant’s unwitting attitude toward the weight of these two icons sets off a series of misunderstandings and awkward blunders. Tickets here.
“I’m a country boy. I think the country deserves the very best. It’s probably never going to get any better than this,” says Krister Henriksson.
