Tickets go on sale Friday, April 24! With his unique ability to balance the absurd with relatability, Christoffer Nyqvist has become one of Sweden’s most beloved young comedians. Now he’s back with a new stand-up show, “The Lion of the North.”
Despite the title, it’s not about Gustav II Adolf; instead, it’s a silly 75-minute show about what Christoffer has been thinking about since last time.
“I want to experiment with the one-man show format this time, and the idea is actually to make it a bit more of a spectacle—something people might not immediately associate with me. But it’s something I’ve wanted to try for a long time, and now’s the time to do it since we’ve booked venues bigger than a shipping pallet,” says Christoffer.
Christoffer started doing stand-up when he was 17 years old, which was ten years ago. “The Lion from the North” will be his second solo tour.
“I think it’s fun to write stand-up, to come up with jokes. As usual, I draw from my own life, and when that’s not enough, from the news. That’s why I have to start reading the newspaper again and/or experience terrible things that I can make funny,” he notes.
“The Lion from the North” premieres at Rival in Stockholm on September 18. Read more here.
Video and audio recording: prohibited during the performance.
