Sold out September 18–19. With his unique ability to balance the absurd with relatability, Christoffer Nyqvist has become one of Sweden’s most beloved young comedians. Now he’s back with a new stand-up show, “The Lion of the North.”
Despite the title, it’s not about Gustav II Adolf; instead, it’s a silly 75-minute show about what Christoffer has been thinking about since last time.
“I want to experiment with the one-man show format this time, and the idea is actually to make it a bit more of a spectacle—something people might not immediately associate with me. But it’s something I’ve wanted to try for a long time, and now’s the time to do it since we’ve booked venues bigger than a shipping pallet,” says Christoffer.
Christoffer started doing stand-up when he was 17 years old, which was ten years ago. “The Lion from the North” will be his second solo tour.
“I think it’s fun to write stand-up, to come up with jokes. As usual, I draw from my own life, and when that’s not enough, from the news. That’s why I have to start reading the newspaper again and/or experience terrible things that I can make funny,” he notes.
“The Lion from the North” premieres at Rival in Stockholm on September 18. Read more here.
