Between us – there are many ways to look back on Magnus Betnér's career. On the one hand, he was a truth-teller, a voice of reason, and provocatively honest – according to many. On the other hand, he was crude, self-revealing, and, according to some, frankly provocative. Few have stirred up more emotions than Magnus Betnér has done during his many tours around Sweden.
If it was “Nothing Is Sacred, ” “Address to the Nation, ” and “The Word of Life” that created the persona of Magnus Betnér, then 2026 is the time to get to know Magnus. All in a funny, revealing stand-up show where a (despite all evidence to the contrary) aging comedian wants to show a new side of himself. It is the story of Magnus, a child with a diagnosis, and of Betnér, a father of two who is solving the puzzle of life, and all the things he holds dear in his fifties. And then a little about what he marvels at.
For the past ten-odd years, Magnus Betnér has been touring as part of various lineups and, in between, has been grinding it out with his ever-evolving “Work in Progress” tour. While some might wonder, “Why change a winning formula?” Magnus wants to dig deeper to try to find that famous essence. There will be hints of ADHD, and there may be fragments of social commentary. The occasional celebrity might have to be addressed. Fans will recognize themselves; fans will be surprised.
