In the spring of 2027, Björn Afzelius would have turned 80. This milestone is being marked with a major tour, bringing together some of those who were close to Björn and his music to pay tribute to one of Sweden’s most beloved and influential artists.
On stage are bandleader Bernt Andersson, along with Göran “Guran” Blomgren, Stefan Sundberg, and Mikael Krönlein. “Guran” and Bernt actually toured with Björn back in the day. Bernt, Stefan, and Michael were members of the Varité Orchestra, where they appeared over 1,200 times alongside and behind Carl-Einar Häckner.
Here you’ll hear the greatest hits, but you’ll also get to hear the stories from behind the scenes—memories, moments, and tales that have rarely, if ever, been told before. This isn’t just a concert. It’s a journey through a life’s work and a tribute to an artist who gave voice to love, anger, solidarity, and the longing for freedom.
“Getting to play Björn’s songs again feels like opening the door to something that’s still alive. His music hasn’t aged; it’s just become even more important.”
-Göran “Guran” Blomgren
-Björn had a rare ability to touch people deeply. To be able to pay tribute to him alongside musicians who were actually there, and with an audience that still carries his songs with them, feels both significant and very personal.” – –Bernt Andersson
