What happens when two of music history’s greatest icons share the same stage? In *Elton John Meets Freddie Mercury*, Johan Boding and Jonas Gideon, together with some of Sweden’s finest musicians, bring together two extraordinary repertoires in a vibrant and visually stunning concert experience filled with timeless hits, musicality, energy, and a powerful stage presence.
Elton John and Freddie Mercury got to know each other in the 1970s, and a close friendship and deep mutual respect developed between them. They also performed on stage together on a few occasions, but a major musical collaboration never materialized. Freddie would have turned 80 in 2026, and Elton John will turn 80 in 2027. We’re celebrating this with an 80th-anniversary celebration you’ll never forget! In *Elton John Meets Freddie Mercury* , Johan and Jonas explore that very idea: What would it have sounded and looked like if these two giants had put on a show together?
Johan Boding is one of Sweden’s most renowned rock singers, with a voice and stage presence that have made him the obvious choice to interpret Freddie Mercury and Queen’s music. He has toured much of the world with arena shows paying tribute to Queen and has appeared in hit productions such as *Thank You for the Music*, *Sol, vind och vatten*, and *Den Svenska Sångboken*. Johan has also appeared in numerous productions of *Rhapsody in Rock* and , as a musical theater performer, has starred in shows including *Miss Saigon* and *Jesus Christ Superstar*.
Jonas Gideon is a musician, singer, and pianist with a lifelong passion for Elton John’s music. He began playing Elton’s songs on the piano as a child, and after an unexpected encounter with Elton John before a concert at Ullevi in 1998, he decided to seriously immerse himself in the music. Since then, he has learned nearly 200 of Elton John’s songs, and in 2023, Jonas launched the tribute show *A True Elton John Tribute*. Throughout his career, he has also collaborated with artists such as Carola, Molly Sandén, Jennifer Brown, Viktor Norén, and Janne Schaffer. Together, Johan and Jonas combine their experience, musicality, and love for two of rock history’s greatest artists—in a musical encounter between Elton John and Freddie Mercury.
