The best way to experience and see Stockholm is on two wheels!
Cycling is a quick and easy way to get around in Stockholm. A perfect way to discover both Södermalm and the rest of the city. Rival's hotel guests can now rent bicycles directly at check-in. They cost SEK 195 to rent per day (08.00-22.00), including locks and helmets. Talk to the hotel reception upon check-in to get more information and book your bike. Bikes may not be reserved in advance. Both new urbanistas and experienced city cyclists will find our bikes, from Orbea Katu, compact and easy to maneuver. Practical details like a sturdy bike basket and low peddle, make it easy for you to bring your shopping bag or backpack, etc.
Booked a room at the Rival Hotel? Congratulations! You've chosen a hotel located by Mariatorget in Södermalm, a neighbourhood that Vogue Magazine has ranked as the third coolest in the world and which the Financial Times listed as one of its top destinations in the world 2014. Visit local art galleries at Hornsgatspuckeln, let loose in the shops of SoFo, walk in the footsteps of Stieg Larsson. The historic Old Town and the Royal Palace are just a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
Our city – Stockholm
I could write so many pages recommending what to do/see/visit/eat/drink when visiting Stockholm as a tourist. In fact, I've done just that in my blog: the Stockholm Tourist! Read my recommendations below.

Airport, taxi and transportation
The best way to travel between Arlanda Airport and Hotel Rival is either by taxi, Taxi Stockholm, or the Arlanda Express to Stockholm Central and then taxi. You can also take the commuter train from Arlanda C (between Terminals 4 and 5) to Stockholm Södra Station, which is only 4 blocks from the Mariatorget square where the hotel is located. Be careful when you hail taxi from the street. Always look for this logotype:
See Stockholm by water. The city is located on 14 islands and is best seen from a sightseeing boat, ferry or from an outdoor terrace. It's easy to get around on foot in Stockholm. We have an excellent public transport system that includes buses, metros, trams, ferries and commuter trains. Of course we sell tickets for that too.
Rival is a proud member of Stockholm LGBT (A collection of local attractions, hotels and companies that work together to ensure that Stockholm continues to be at the top of the listings of gay destinations). I work as their contact person at the hotel and this is part of Hotel Rival's commitment to ensure that all our guests feel equally welcome, regardless of nationality, colour, religion, gender, age or sexual orientation.
Hotel Rival opened in 2003 as Stockholm's first boutique hotel.
