Winemaker's Dinner with João Portugal Ramos
On Tuesday, May 21 at 18.00 we welcome you to the Tavern and a dinner with four courses and no less than six different wines from Ramos' portfolio.
Price: 895 SEK per person including drinks
For over thirty years, João Portugal Ramos has been known as perhaps Portugal's foremost winemaker and as the man who pushed for the renewal of Portugal's wine industry. In the mid-1990s, he was named Portugal's winemaker of the year three times.
In the early 1980s, Portugal was mainly known for its fortified wines (Port and Madeira). Even then, João was producing red wines of astonishing quality. He realized early on that wine could be made significantly better by using more modern production methods, better equipment and a near-perfectionist approach to vineyard management. Today, João Portugal has both his own and rented vineyards totaling 600 hectares in the Alentejo, Douro, Beiras, Tagus and Vinho Verde regions.
Tonight's dinner host João Maria Ramos, second generation Ramos.
